For each scenario below, choose the most appropriate answer from the list above. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.
1. A 32 year man unconscious old man is rushed into A&E. He has severe hypotension and a widespread purpuric rash.
2. A 29 year old man comes to A&E complaining of severe headache. He is tachycardic and sweaty. You also notice a swollen lymph node in his neck. Bloods have come back, and you notice a high PTH.
3. This is the deepest layer within the cortex.
4. On your first day at a GP practice, a 32 year old woman tells you that her periods have become wierd, and she wanted to check everything is alright, after all, she is carrying ‘God’s son’. You notice that she uses her hands to push herself up from the chair. She is new to the practice, and she will not tell you her medications in case you are working for the devil.
5. A middle aged overweight man comes in to see you for a follow up to his blood pressure management. He swears that he has cut salt out his diet and has cycled to work for the past few months, but his blood pressure has not dropped at all. Being on the ball with clinical pathology, you notice that even though his K+ is in the normal range, it is on the low side.
